Woodland Wonders Performance

James 'Jem' Ward AKA The Black Diamond. The first boxer to be officially disciplined for throwing a fight in 1822 he became English Champion in 1825. He then became a collector and painter of oils, as well as playing violin, flute and piano. He is buried in Nunhead Cemetery.

Jem appeared bare-fist boxing, playing violin and oil painting as part of the Woodland Wonders Exhibition and Open City Weekend from 11am - 5pm on 17 September 2011.
