Crockatt and Powell Independent Bookshop, 119-120 Lower Marsh, London, SE 1.
30th October 2006 – 25th November 2006
A great opportunity to highlight the diversity of books in the bookshop with 25 to 30 artists responding imaginatively to a book of their choice on the bookshelves, by designing and making a bookmark, which will be displayed inside the books. A possible commercial opportunity for the best designed bookmark.
A public art exhibition of contemporary and imaginative responses to the books on the bookshelves in the bookshop. A group exhibition of handmade fine art bookmarks displayed inside the books, which the general members of the public can enjoy and engage in. The bookmarks can be sold with the book or displayed separately once the book has been sold in the display bookcase. There will be a sign hanging in the window explaining the show to the members of the general public.
It is expected there will be at least 25 to 30 visual artists, mixed- media artists, book artists, print-makers and photographers exhibiting work across 25 bookcases in the shop. Graduates from final degree shows, as well as professionals, and those still at College or University.
